Our little Pam...

After months of begging, pleading, crying and making promises that could never be kept, Courtney finally convinced me to get another dog. Our best friend of 10 years, Jake, had to be put to sleep over the summer, it was so hard to lose him, I wasn't sure that I was ready to have another dog.

Courtney's birthday was coming up and no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't talk her out of it. We found Pam through the Lost Paws organization that adopts through Petsmart. She came in as a stray, so they didn't have any background on her. She was kind of scrawny and one ear was mangled, but that didn't matter to Courtney. It was love at first sight.

Tyler was very excited to see her when we brought her home. When we told him what her name was, he turned to us with a horrified look and asked, "Who would do THAT to a dog?" Needless to say, Tyler doesn't like the name Pam, so he calls her Beasley instead.

Why did Courtney name her Pam, you ask...well, Courtney is in love with The Office. If you are not familiar with the show, it is a comedy that airs on Thursday nights, Pam Beasley is the receptionist. You can't imagine the agony Courtney went through during the writer's strike! (If you're wondering what the dog would have been named had it been a male, the answer is Dwight!)

Pam is such a sweet dog, it didn't take her long to get used to us. I tell everyone that for the first few weeks I wasn't sure if she could walk because the kids never put her down long enough to see. Even when they do happen to put her down, she will just wander around the house until she finds someone sitting and then she will jump up in their lap and cuddle.

I have to admit, I am really glad Courtney talked me into getting a dog. It kind of makes you feel good to walk through the door and have a little dog so excited to see you. Her tail wiggles so hard that she can hardly even stand.

Pam is one lucky dog to be adopted by the Jonses!
