Senior Awards Banquet

A few weeks ago, Courtney got an invitation to the Senior Awards Banquet along with a message from her counselor urging her to go.

They had an amazing dinner followed by a few speakers from the faculty and staff.

Courtney received a letter in English and Soccer, a Diploma of Merit, and Outstanding Academic Performance in Reading.

She was also awarded a $1000 scholarship from the Reese Family. Every year this family awards both captains of the soccer team a scholarship in honor of their daughter who passed away when she was captain.

We are so grateful for the unbelievable generosity from this family; Courtney and I were both very touched.

Courtney has had such a wonderful high school experience. She has worked so hard this year and will graduate with her CNA. I am so, so proud of my girl!

Spring Fling

Spring Fling is a girl's choice dance and was the last dance of the year!

Woohoo!!!

Katie asked her BFF Inoke and Courtney asked her good friend Lo.

The date started at Apollo Burger for lunch...

Then it was back to our house to watch Kung Fu Panda.

After the movie, the girls and their dates met up with their group at Chili's.

I am not sure what the glasses are all about. Courtney just thought it would be cute to get some 3D glasses, punch out the lenses and paint the rims to match their shirt...

For some reason, it's the "in" thing to put your date's last name on your shirt...

After the dance they had a paint fight. Yes, you heard me right, a paint fight. They went to a field, put paint in buckets and placed them around said field and then ran around scooping up paint with their hands and throwing it at each other.

Looks like tons of fun! NOT! I am so glad that I am not in high school any more!

Jr. Prom

I have to hurry up and blog about Jr. Prom because Spring Fling is right around the corner!

Katie went to Jr. Prom with her friend Austin.

She informed me a few months before the dance that she wanted a full-length dress. I informed her that there was no way I was going to pay for a full-length dress and wished her luck. Let's just say that "luck" is Katie's middle name.

Her friend's mom knows a lady, who knows a lady, that has beautiful full-length prom dresses that she lends out. Needless to say, Katie got her full-length prom dress, for free might I add, and looked more beautiful than ever.

The only thing that actually cost us money was the boutonniere, the diamonds I twisted into her hair, and her sparkly tennis shoes.
